Nihao From China!

Greetings from China! I've been MIA for a while because I just moved to Shanghai China and I spent the last 3 weeks fighting jet lag, settling in, apartment hunting, exploring the city and getting used to the climate.

I must admit, I had negative expectations before I made my move but I've already fallen madly in love with this city. The bright lights, the shopping, the friendly locals, meeting people from all walks of life and the Shanghai happy hour!!!!!!!!! The shanghai happy hour means ladies can drink and/or eat for free at a lot of bars, clubs and restaurants! I've basically been out every night drinking free champagne and cocktails!

As you can imagine, the pollution is quite bad( but not as bad as I thought). You cant really see it but you can feel it in the air and I spent the last 2 weeks coughing. I've got what they call "the Shanghai cough", which is a reoccurring cough you get because of the air quality. In terms of my hair, I've kept it hidden and safe from the pollution and humidity under a wig. Last week I took a break from the wig and rocked a cute twist out when I went apartment hunting, only for my hair to suck every single last drop of moisture in the air! By the time I got back to the hotel I had a sad little teeny weeny afro puff.

I need to find a way to keep my hair stretched all day without resorting to heat and work on a new twist out formula, which incorporates gel to withstand the humidity here. The wig has also been very convenient because I've been on the go since I got here and hardly have any time for my hair.

Once I'm settled in my new routine I'll be back to posting regularly about my hair adventures in China.

Until then, take care! xx
