6 ways to add garlic to your regimen

As discussed in a this post, garlic is very beneficial to our hair when applied topically as well. It smells quite a lot and it is up to you to decide whether you would want to add garlic to your hair care regimen.

                      

There goes the warning so don’t you say I didn’t warn you. For persons like myself,  who enjoy garlic in food or even ingesting it raw, the heavy scent is not a problem so deciding to use garlic was not that hard. Felt bad for my family because they have to put up with me smelling garlic for some hours every week or even twice a week. Anyway, such is life.

Below are 6 ways in which you can add garlic to your hair routine.   

  1. Blend 2 cloves garlic in 200ml water and 2 table spoons extra virgin coconut oil in a food processor. Strain the mixer and massage onto your scalp. Leave on for at least 5 minutes or more and then shampoo your hair.
  2. Infuse 100ml of extra virgin coconut oil with 3 cloves crushed garlic. Close the bottle tight and put in a dry, dark place for about 7 to 10 days in order for the healing properties of the garlic to be transferred to the oil. Strain the garlic pulp. Massage the oil onto scalp and put your hair into a plastic cap or bag and leave on overnight. Shampoo the next morning.
  3. You don’t have time to wait for 7 to 10 days for the method above? Then instead of packing it away, boil the mixtures slightly for about 5 minutes. Remove from stove and let it cool. Strain the oil and massage on to your scalp for about 3 to 5 minutes. Leave on overnight or for at least 30 minutes then shampoo out.
  4. Blend 2 cloves garlic in 400ml water in a food processor to produce a garlic rinse. Apply this to your scalp, massaging it in gently. Leave it on for about 5 to 30 minutes then rinse out. Shampoo hair if required.
  5. Add garlic oil to your shampoo or conditioner.
  6. Open up a garlic clove and rub it onto your scalp gently. Place a plastic cap on and leave it overnight. shampoo hair the next morning.

There you have it. You can choose any of these ways according to what suits you best.Look out for a stinging sensation the first few minutes but that usually goes away so besides the smell, you should not feel uncomfortable with a garlic treatment on your scalp.

Try to do the garlic scalp treatments at night so that you can shampoo the hair in the morning. This will help to reduce the people who may be offended with the garlic smell to a minimum. Use a good scented shampoo or conditioner as well to mask the smell.As I said earlier, the choice is yours.
