Natural Hair Tools
Now that you’re natural or transitioning, there are some tools you’ll need in your hair regime that will make your life a lot easier.
With the right tools and techniques, managing your natural hair can be a breeze. Every natural should invest in the following essential tools:
1. Wide tooth comb
A wide tooth comb is essential to any natural hair detangling regimen. It’s cheap and you can find it in any store that sells hair products. When detangling add conditioner or oil to the hair to provide slip, separate into manageable sections and start combing at the ends working your way toward the roots.
2. Plastic caps
Plastic caps are great for holding in moisture while deep conditioning your hair.
3. Spray bottle
Your hair needs moisture and that comes from water. Whether you get it wet in the shower or use a spray bottle you should water your hair and scalp daily. Put some water, oil and conditioner in your spray bottle (or whatever ingredients your hair prefers) and spritz daily.
4. Applicator bottle
The applicator bottle makes mixing, containing and applying your hair mixes simple without causing a lot of mess and allows precise application on your hair and scalp.
5. Butterfly clips
These are super useful for sectioning and holding hair in place during detangling or styling.
6. Bobby pins
For styling. Pin, tuck or roll your curls with bobby pins.
7. Satin scarf/bonnet/pillow case
While you are sleeping you need to protect your hair from tangles and breakage that can be caused by friction of the cotton pillow case. Tuck your hair inside a bonnet or pick up a satin pillowcase.
8. An old t-shirt or micro-fiber towel
To dry your wet hair without causing any frizz.
